About me
I am a Master's student of Doz. Dr. Günter Gollmann preparing a thesis on the topic "The amphibian fauna of the Natura 2000 nature reserve “Traun-Donau-Auen” near the city of Linz".
The Natura 2000 nature reserve "Traun-Donau-Auen" is one of the most important habitats for amphibians in Upper Austria with more than10 different amphibian species occuring there, some of which even listed in the annexes II and IV of the Habitats Directive by the EU. Latest evaluation of the population size and spawning sites of amphibia in “Traun-Donau-Auen” is dated back almost two decades (Weissmair, 2007). Therefore, the objective of my Master's thesis is to collect data about the current situation of the amphibian fauna, the sizes of their populations and also to evaluate spawning sites of the Natura 2000 nature reserve“Traun-Donau-Auen”. Results will be essential for the characterization of the status-quo of the local amphibian fauna, providing fundamental information for their conservation.
