About me
I am a researcher under the supervision of Prof. Alan S. Ross (Institute of Education), focusing on the study of the lantern-slide collection from the former Institute of Zoology at the University of Vienna. This work is part of the Associated Media of Austro-Hungarian Zoological Education (AMAZE) project, funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), which aims to place the focus on material and visual studies within the history of education.
By cataloguing and analysing the lantern-slide collection, we aim to delve into the reality of zoology teaching at the University of Vienna during the 19th and early 20th centuries. This will allow us to study the role of visual and material processes in the internal colonialism of sciences and the nationalisation of education in the Habsburg Empire.
